Overton County Tennessee was an Indian Territory that had been within Davidson County, TN, in which a Cherokee Chief presided over and was conceded to Tennessee for use by the white man.
Overton County at this time included Fentress and large parts of Clay, Putnam, Cumberland, Morgan, and Scott counties. It was named for Judge Overton and brirthplace of Cordell Hull. Livingston is the largest city at 3,500.*
